
Business Development Production Manager
The Role
The team
ITV Sport produces some of the biggest sporting events on the calendar such as the FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship, Rugby World Cup, Six Nations Championship, England Women’s Football Internationals, Motor Sport and the best of UK Horse Racing, including The Grand National, Cheltenham Festival and The Derby. Our talented team of Programme Editors, Studio Directors, Producers, Technical teams, and Production Managements team are committed to delivering high-quality content for our viewers.
The role
Reporting to the Head of Production, they will support the recently created Business Development team.
They will support the Controller of Sport, Head of Production, Technical Director (Business Development Leads). The aim of this team is to secure new business and contracts outside of the main ITV sourced rights.
They will be responsible for compiling budgets for pitches, supporting the Business Development Senior Producer (new future hire) to create all pitch documentation, create timelines for the pitch process and organise the team responsible for inputting into the pitches. The role will also entail supporting the Technical Director with all supporting technical documents for pitches, assisting with technical budgets and organisation of the wider technical team. There will also be a requirement to further assist with future supplier RFP’s for main ITV rights in conjunction with the production executives and technical director..
The role is responsible for ensuring all pitch documentation is in compliance with all ITV processes, policies (H&S, content compliance, GDPR, anti-bribery, employment legislation, cyber security) as well as fulfilment of ITV’s diversity and environmental commitments.
We are looking for someone to drive this process and use initiative whilst being confident in meeting deadlines. They will work closely with the Business Development Senior Producer to compile all documentation.
Our successful Production Manager will have a proven track record on live Sport OB and event programming, with up to date knowledge of television production and experience in production compliance, rights and H&S guidelines. Candidates will have excellent attention to detail and the ability to anticipate problems and plan ahead adapting to last minute changes, whilst under pressure. You will be highly computer and financially literate and have experience of taking a proactive approach. It is essential that you have proven experience of leading and developing a team and the ability to create budgets from scratch. You will also need to be able to demonstrate the formation of productive relationships with a wide range of external resource providers, commercial partners, artists, their agents and freelance staff.
To be successful in this role, you will have an energetic and flexible approach to your work. You will be solution focused, adaptable, confident in yourself to manage difficult challenging situations in a fast moving environment, and entrepreneurial with the ability to think quickly and make decisions on the go. The successful candidate will also have extensive experience managing teams & Live / Highlight OB’s and studio shows.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- A wealth of experience at Production Manager level with sufficient production knowledge to manage the scale and complexity of a wide range of live Sport OB productions both in the UK and abroad
- Proven financial acumen and experience in creating a wide range and size of budgets.
- Strong technical understanding of Sport outside broadcasts and live programming with a sound knowledge of a range of technologies/workflows and their application
