Finance Controls Manager

Return to jobs

The Role

The team..

The Finance Controls function operates at the core of ITV's financial transformation and governance agenda. We focus on designing, embedding, and continually evolving practical risk and control frameworks that protect the business while supporting operational agility. Working collaboratively across Finance, Risk, and second-line assurance teams, our team thrives on simplifying complex concepts, empowering control owners, and maintaining a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to internal controls and corporate governance.

The role..

We’re looking for a Finance Controls Manager to join our team on a permanent basis. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the continued development of ITV's finance control environment by designing, embedding, and improving finance risk and control frameworks across the business.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will act as a trusted business partner as part of our second line capability You will, on occasion, need to build risk and control frameworks from scratch, lead the Finance Control Self-Assessment (CSA) and monitoring processes, and support material control remediation activities to help meet requirements for the Board's declaration on internal control effectiveness. In addition, this role will own the annual fraud risk assessment across the wider business, working with teams to identify and assess fraud risks, and ensure appropriate mitigation activities have clear ownership and are effectively managed. It is an ideal opportunity for a qualified finance controls or risk professional who enjoys translating complex requirements into practical, proportionate, and business-focused outcomes.

Some of your key day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, implementing, and continuously improving finance risk and control frameworks to ensure they remain practical, proportionate, and aligned with key business processes.
  • Partnering directly with control owners across Finance to identify control gaps, resolve issues, and ensure risks are clearly understood and embedded in day-to-day operations.
  • Leading the Finance Control Self-Assessment (CSA) process, ensuring it is delivered effectively and consistently embedded across the Finance function.
  • Leading the Finance monitoring process, assessing control performance, and translating outputs into meaningful management information, insights, and reporting.
  • Tracking remediation activities through to completion, prioritising actions, monitoring progress, and escalating issues appropriately.
  • Providing practical guidance and constructive challenge to process owners to promote clear accountability, sustainable controls, and clear ownership.
  • Identifying continuous improvement opportunities to simplify control frameworks using stakeholder feedback and monitoring outcomes.
  • Supporting the delivery of material control remediation activities in alignment with requirements under the UK Corporate Governance Code (Provision 29).
  • Coordinate the annual fraud risk assessment, supporting clear accountability and effective management of fraud risks.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

  • Professionally qualified in accountancy, risk, or audit (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in financial controls, risk management, or assurance within a complex corporate organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability and comfort building finance risk and control frameworks from scratch.
  • Familiarity with the UK Corporate Governance Code (Provision 29) and the failure to prevent fraud offences under ECCTA 2023.
  • Practical experience delivering change within risk and control environments.
  • Strong working-level stakeholder management skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts and focus on what matters.

Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)

  • Hands-on, pragmatic, and delivery-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership for completing tasks and driving practical outcomes.
  • Strong judgment with the ability to apply proportionate, risk-based thinking to complex financial and operational problems.
  • Highly organised, meticulous with detail, and comfortable working at pace through evolving environments with changing priorities.
  • Collaborative and approachable style, guiding stakeholders with clear, evidence-based decisions rather than seeking consensus for its own sake.
  • A proactive and reliable approach to sharing good practice and refining frameworks based on business feedback.

Potential Challenges

  • May require occasional travel within the UK between our London and Manchester hubs.
  • Requires flexibility in working hours to meet key projects and reporting deliverables.

Please note, on occasion we may receive a very large volume of applications which means applications for a role may close earlier than the referenced closing date. We’d encourage you to apply as soon as possible if interested.
