The role

The Head of Data Analytics is responsible for delivering the underlying capability which enables data to be translated into insight and used across the business. The individual will need to be able to map business needs and define capability which is required in an efficient and effective way. They will strive to deliver innovation and enable the Insights function and ITV to think differently about how data and insight can be used to solve business problems.

They will need to deliver in the here and now while also building capability for the longer term, always keeping the return on investment and value to ITV at the top of their agenda.

This role will also be required to support the Business Insight and Central Insight teams with ‘hands on’ analytical support as necessary.

The team

ITV is on a digital transformation with data and insight at the centre of change. This integral role will focus on putting data and analytics at the heart of every key decision. What content should we commission? Which audience is most commercially attractive for us? How do we optimise our product to improve view through rates? The answers to these questions and more will enable ITV to succeed in the future, and this role needs to enable decision makers to make them well.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that the Insight Group delivers best in class data analytics that drive business value:
    - Promoting cross-organisational collaboration by expanding analysts' scope beyond individual business areas and ensuring they have the right tools and methodologies.
    - Standardising metrics and methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and meet analytics requirements for both the Business and Central Insight teams.
  • Providing functional/dotted line management for data analysts embedded in business insight teams
  • Coordinating analysts input into self-serve capabilities, ensuring best practice and avoiding duplication of processes and output.
  • Working with the rest of the Insights team to democratise data and insights - making it available, accessible and usable by the business to make timely decisions independently
  • Driving forward ITV’s use of data and analytics in the areas of the business where this function is in the early stages of adoption. E.g. Content
  • Contributing business insights requirements and provide input and expertise into the development of insight capabilities, e.g. migration, data products, analytics, BARB
  • Act as an analytics champion across ITV, identifying opportunities to drive business value through data and embedding analytics usage across Media & Entertainment (M&E).
  • Fostering a culture of curiosity, continuous learning and innovation within the Insights team. Promoting and championing an experimentation approach to analytics with a focus on driving future orientated usage of analytics.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

  • Strong knowledge of analytics and processes which enable business value
  • Working knowledge of data engineering principles, including data modelling and data integration
  • Must have familiarity with analytics tools (Tableau, Power BI, Amplitude, GA4, Looker Studio), statistical techniques and evidence of rolling out visualisation tools
  • Must have experience of working with digital tracking technologies and using appropriate off the shelf technologies (eg. Adobe, GA, Amplitude),
  • Must have experience of working with very large scale data sets and cloud based query tools (GCP or AWS)
  • Data governance and compliance aware - committed to maintaining data quality

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of analytics and measurement techniques and able to communicate complex ideas to non technical stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, ability to influence across business domains
  • A commitment to fostering a culture of innovation within the team, encouraging creative problem solving and the exploration of emerging technologies
  • Able to lead change through others - collaborating, motivating and organising groups across the organisation to deliver results
  • Anticipates and clearly defines solutions and is able to focus on breadth of solutions during ideation development
