Head of Engineering - Studios Technology

The Role

Workplace: London White City. Expectation is 2-3 days per week in the office

ITV Studios is one of the biggest global creators, producers and distributors of TV content in the world. Studios Technology underpins the creation, management and distribution of world-class content, enabling creative excellence and operational efficiency across our scripted and unscripted labels.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Head of Engineering, Studios Technology will provide senior technical and people leadership across the Studios Technology engineering landscape.

The role is responsible for setting engineering direction, building strong engineering capability, and ensuring technology solutions are scalable, secure, resilient and aligned to ITV Studios’ creative, operational and commercial ambitions.

Working closely with Product, Delivery, Architecture and business stakeholders, the Head of Engineering will help shape and deliver the Studios Technology strategy. They will ensure engineering teams are focused on high-quality delivery, sound technical decision-making, effective assurance and continuous improvement.

Skills Required

• Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role, ideally within a complex technology, media, digital, platform or enterprise environment.
• Strong technical background across modern software engineering, cloud platforms, APIs, data, automation, infrastructure, platform engineering and AI engineering.
• Experience leading engineering teams through delivery, change and growth, including performance management, coaching, mentoring and capability development.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, service design, scalability, performance, resilience and DevOps practices.
• Experience shaping technical roadmaps and making architectural or engineering decisions that balance business value, delivery pace and long-term maintainability.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, including cloud-native engineering patterns and operational best practice.
• Experience defining or operating engineering governance, technical assurance, design review or architecture governance processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience working closely with Product, Delivery, Architecture and senior technology leadership.
• Strong ability to identify and manage technical risk, engineering dependencies and technical debt across complex technology landscapes.
• Clear communication skills, able to explain technical direction, rationale and outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Leadership-level familiarity programme language e.g. Python and Java,
