Head of PMO
The Head of PMO usually sets up frameworks, runs governance, ensures budget compliance, supports the Transformation Management Office and ensures the right processes are followed. And whilst all of this is part of this role, it will play a small part.
We are looking for something a little different! We need someone to lead a Proactive PMO, a strategic delivery partner that actively drives project and programme execution, strengthens delivery across functions, and acts as the glue for dependencies, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement.
The right candidate will be experienced in driving both technical programmes and business operating models, they will be able to translate technical challenges to business leaders whilst also ensuring the operating model adapts with new technology - we are always looking to be simpler and more effective.
We are looking for an ‘all rounder’ who understands the vital links between the business operating model, the technology platforms that enable it and how to take the business on the change journey. You must be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in and be able to hold your own in senior conversations with stakeholders. If you think you are that unicorn then please get in touch!
The team
The Transformation Management Office is responsible for ITV’s ongoing transformation, on behalf of the Management Board. We work with teams from all across ITV, driving the delivery of programmes and making sure we’re prioritising the people side too. The Business Change team sits within the TMO with team members actively collaborating across programmes to share learnings, tips and tricks.
Responsibilities:
Portfolio Leadership
- Oversee delivery of programmes, ensuring alignment with the 3-year roadmap, time, and budget
- Act as a trouble-shooter across the portfolio
- Coordinate and initiate new business cases with stakeholders across the business
- Lead the PMO in managing risks and ensuring real-time issue escalation and resolution
- Consolidate and govern the transformation roadmap across ITV
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver transformation projects efficiently and effectively
- Control capex allocation and reporting in partnership with finance teams and Programme Directors
Global Programme Management
- Centralise all projects into a streamlined delivery model with real-time status tracking
- Embed project management best practices and governance models
- Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to ensure successful transformation outcomes
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across transformation teams
- Facilitate effective stakeholder communication and engagement to secure buy-in and support
Demand & Capacity Management
- Launch and implement Transformation demand and capacity management.
- Ensure alignment of engineering capacity with business demand
Special Projects & Support
- Assist the Transformation leadership with strategy development, budgeting, and special project execution.
- Act as a trouble shooter, tracking project progress, escalating issues, and coordinating priorities.
- Deliver corporate initiatives.
Leadership & Best Practices
- Lead and mentor TMO, embedding best practices.
- Drive maturity in delivery models using balanced scorecard methodologies.
- Oversee monthly review cycles and governance forums for programme and project management.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- Extensive experience in technology transformation and programme management
- Expertise in managing complex portfolios and enterprise-wide transformations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to align long-term vision to short-term execution
Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)
- Advanced knowledge of Agile SDLC and tools such as JIRA
- Proficiency in Google Workspace tools
- Relevant project management and change certifications
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement
- Comfort operating in high-stakes, ambiguous, fast-paced environments
