Interim Group Financial Reporting Manager
The Role
The team..
The ITV Group Controllership and Reporting team operates at the core of our corporate finance structure. We are responsible for delivering high-quality external financial reporting and maintaining statutory integrity across the organisation. Our team thrives in a fast-paced environment, working collaboratively across cross-functional finance, systems, and commercial teams to navigate complex technical accounting challenges and deliver clear, robust financial disclosures for a listed business.
The role..
We have an exciting opportunity for an Interim Group Financial Reporting Manager to join our team on an 18-month fixed-term contract basis involving both complex corporate transaction project-work alongside back-filling other team members BAU activities during a period of increased workload. Reporting directly to the Head of Financial Reporting, you will act as a key subject matter expert within the ITV Group Controllership and Reporting function, using your technical accounting skills to ensure we are getting transactions over the line. Please note this is a temporary position for a defined project period.
This is a high-visibility, technical, and operational role that also encompasses the financial controllership of the ITV Group’s Shared business area. You will play a significant part in the technical aspects of corporate-transaction accounting—whilst also helping to deliver our external reporting requirements, serving as the primary contact for our Group audit and supporting interactions with the Group’s Audit Committee. This role will suit someone who has a genuine interest in contributing to high-quality external financial reporting and complex technical accounting solutions.
Some of your key day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Analysing non-BAU transactions alongside the Head of Financial Reporting, including corporate-transactions, M&A activity, discontinued operations etc.
- Analysing complex revenue transactions, defined benefit pensions, and consolidation impacts from Group restructurings.
- Delivering half and full-year statutory financial statements under IFRS for a listed company as a key member of the Group reporting team.
- Acting as the primary ITV contact for the Group’s external audit process, leading coordination to tight deadlines and delivering technical aspects of the audit.
- Preparing and presenting presentations and papers on complex transactions for the Audit Committee, providing clear conclusions and management recommendations.
- Maintaining financial integrity for statutory information relating to entities in the Group’s shared business area, managing period-end deadlines, primary reviews, and non-BAU accounting.
- Owning the Group’s implementation of IFRS 18, analysing its impact on financial statements and collaborating with finance systems teams on Chart of Accounts configurations.
- Maintaining and updating the Group’s accounting policy manual and drafting new or revised policies.
- Providing technical expertise on IFRS and UK GAAP queries to the wider business, and delivering technical training and accounting updates across the ITV finance community.
- Driving continuous improvement across processes and controls within the shared business areas.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- ACA, ACCA (or equivalent) qualified with Post-Qualification Experience (PQE).
- Essential prior experience in audit practice auditing listed entities, or an equivalent industry financial reporting role.
- Deep technical accounting knowledge across both IFRS and UK GAAP, with specific expertise in business combinations, consolidation accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Excellent communication skills with the proven ability to translate complex accounting concepts into clear, practical guidance for commercial and non-finance stakeholders.
Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)
- A genuine interest in contributing to high-quality external financial reporting and complex technical accounting solutions.
- A resilient problem solver who demonstrates initiative, takes clear ownership of challenges, and navigates obstacles effectively.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A proven track record of building trusted, collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholder groups.
Potential Challenges
- May require occasional travel within the UK between our London and Manchester offices.
- Requires flexibility in working hours to meet critical financial reporting deliverables and key reporting milestones.
