The team..
The ITV Studios group creates a huge range of television programmes which it produces directly and also has a catalogue of television formats which it licences internationally to third party production companies and broadcasters across the globe.
The role..
We are looking for a Law graduate to join our friendly and collaborative Business Affairs team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role sits within the Brand Protection Team and reports to the Senior Legal Advisor and Head of Brand Protection. You will be working closely with the Brand Protection Executive and another Legal Intern on a range of brand protection matters.
As part of the team, you will support the legal clearance of new programme titles and strands within programmes, assist with the filing of trade marks and domain names internationally, and contribute to brand enforcement efforts. This includes monitoring and taking enforcement action across social media platforms and online marketplaces.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a keen interest in intellectual property and a desire to build a career in legal or business affairs within the media industry.
Some of your key day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Conducting legal clearances of new programme titles in the UK and internationally
- Assisting with brand protection for television formats licensed internationally, including trade mark filings and brand enforcement against third parties
- Assisting with monitoring of social media and online platforms for brand infringements and taking enforcement action as necessary
- Creating and updating “Brand Dashboards” of key brand protection information for each key television programme format
- Managing trade mark portfolio database updates relating to the brands and matters worked on
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- Bachelor’s degree in law or postgraduate diploma in law (or equivalent postgraduate qualification in law)
- Demonstrated interest and basic knowledge of intellectual property law (for example completion of undergraduate or postgraduate module in IP or evidence of work experience relating to intellectual property)
- Must be available to start by mid January 2026 and available to complete the full 12 month contract
- If you are shortlisted to progress to the first stage of the selection process, you will be invited to attend our London (White City) office on either 11 or 12 November to complete a series of competency-based assessments. Candidates who are successful at this stage will then be invited to a formal interview the following week
Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)
- Basic knowledge of intellectual property law (particularly trade marks) and contract law (eg completion of undergraduate or post graduate module in IP)
- High degree of competency in using applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint to create and maintain detailed project documentation and well-presented executive summaries for senior management
- Ability to review and assimilate large amounts of information and to use a high degree of attention to detail to use the information to create project documentation and strategy recommendations
- Ability to work proactively and collaboratively with various key ITV teams, including other ITV legal and business affairs teams, sales teams, licensing teams and marketing teams
- Ability to work proactively and independently on online research (on internet, internal data and legal databases) into ITV’s exploitation of formats
- Ability to manage a high volume workload which requires prioritisation of work to meet deadlines
