The Role

The role

The Operations Analyst is responsible for helping the Operations Manager run the operational service. The role would suit a technically minded person, who may have undertaken their own technical projects or learning. Experience in technology is not essential, however.

The role is divided between operational facilitation and junior technical work. The operational facilitation includes supporting the Operations Manager with proactive problem management, business engagement for organising large scale change, organising service transition and arranging DR Tests. The role will also ensure that engineers are performing required operational checks and ensuring certificates are managed. Junior technical work includes working with vendors to patch hardware and performing troubleshooting on cloud hosted virtual machines. The role holder will also have the opportunity to gain exposure to automated engineering, using technology including Puppet and PowerShell.

Main responsibilities

  • Supporting the Core Engineering Squad with junior engineering tasks
  • EP problem management
  • Arranging DR Tests
  • Arranging restore tests
  • Asset and Configuration Management (EP aspects only)
  • Fsx Storage Management
  • Black Pearl Management
  • Working with vendors to apply non-engineering fixes
  • Performing click based operations to workloads in legacy tenant
  • License Management
  • Coordinating large scale change with customers
  • Reporting on operational quality metrics to Product Owner
  • Organising service transition of new applications

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

  • Quick to learn new software and systems with a strong interest in how technology solves business challenges.
  • A highly analytical and detail-oriented approach when reviewing and interpreting data.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, capable of explaining information simply and building positive relationships.
  • A proactive and logically-minded problem solver with a focus on continuous learning.
