The Role
The team..
ITV has a collaborative, flexible, and fun company culture, full of warm, brilliant people. In HR, we are here to support and encourage that culture, partnering with teams to add real value and help everyone reach their full potential. From recruiting the best candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds to helping them grow and develop their career at ITV and supporting them with a range of wellbeing tools, we are here to make sure everyone can be their best at ITV.
The role..
We’re looking for a People Relations Manager to join the team on a 14-month fixed-term contract basis. This role functions as an integral part of our centralised, impartial People Relations team sitting within People Operations and reporting to the Head of People Relations.
In this role, you will deliver consistent, professional, and risk-based case management and advisory services across a wide range of complex employee relations activities across all areas of the business. Grounded in legislative principles, ACAS best practice, and internal policies, you will ensure full compliance while driving a duty of care approach that puts people at the heart of everything we do. Partnering with our group of Investigating & Hearing Managers (IHMs), you will manage a highly complex case portfolio end-to-end, ensuring that investigations and hearings are executed efficiently, confidentially, and to an exceptionally high standard.
Some of your key day to day responsibilities will include:
- Leading end-to-end formal processes, investigations, and hearings regarding disciplinaries, grievances, and freelancer complaints.
- Assisting IHMs in formulating balanced and proportionate recommendations to support all involved parties and prevent future issues.
- Managing or advising on sensitive, informal complaints related to bullying, harassment, dignity at work, or unlawful discrimination.
- Leading appeal processes stemming from capability, redundancy, flexible working, or any other statutory requirement.
- Assisting with subsequent procedures including settlement negotiations and ACAS early conciliation, as well as supporting the compilation of documentation for tribunal claims.
- Providing a professional, responsive, and legally compliant people relations advisory service for a diverse range of stakeholders and leaders, maintaining tight alignment with our Service Level Agreements.
- Logging new cases onto Oracle upon triage and updating the internal Case File Tracker daily with detailed, timed, and dated entries.
- Participating actively in weekly PR Case Clinics to report on case status, share tactical learnings, and collaborate on strategic resolutions with the broader People Partnering team.
- Contributing to data compilation for monthly reporting metrics delivered to the HR Leadership Team to actively monitor cultural trends and risk patterns.
- Partnering with the Head of People Policy and cross-functional teams to continuously evaluate, update, and improve HR policies by feeding back case learnings.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- Minimum CIPD Level 5.
- Significant senior-level HR generalist/business partner experience, preferably in a fast-paced, high-profile organisation.
- Proven experience in managing complex employee relation investigation processes, including strong report writing skills.
- Extensive experience providing objective, proactive, and commercially focused HR counsel directly to senior leadership groups.
Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)
- Strong networking and interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build rapport and trust with all colleagues, delivering with accountability and taking ownership of outcomes.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice initiatives.
- Experience of writing to a high standard in a clear and concise way.
- A creative approach to problem-solving and a proactive, self-starter mindset with a "can-do" approach.
- Commercial awareness and curiosity about the broader business, welcoming new perspectives through curiosity, honesty, and mutual respect.
- Flexible in style with the ability to accommodate a variety of different attitudes and adjust your approach accordingly.
- Strong project management and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience working with organisational complexity, matrix structures, and a high degree of ambiguity, while remaining calm under pressure.
