The role..
ITV’s dynamic and forward-thinking Data Privacy team is looking for a Privacy Compliance Assistant to join us on a full-time, permanent basis Reporting to the Global Privacy Programme Manager, this role plays a key part in supporting ITV’s Data Privacy Compliance Team. You’ll help ensure data protection compliance across all ITV operations, with a focus on managing data subject rights, maintaining privacy records, and supporting compliance monitoring. This is a varied and collaborative role, working closely with teams across the business to support both daily operations and broader privacy initiatives.
Key day-to-day responsibilities may include:
- Coordinating and fulfilling data subject rights requests, including data collation, redaction, legal review, and response.
- Managing internal and external privacy mailboxes and post, including correspondence with the ICO and customer/stakeholder queries.
- Maintaining ITV’s data protection registrations with relevant supervisory authorities and tracking DPO appointments.
- Supporting the upkeep of ITV’s Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) and other data protection inventories.
- Maintaining accurate records of privacy team templates, policies, guidance, and procedures.
- Assisting with communication and rollout of data protection policies and internal awareness campaigns.
- Supporting the logging and investigation of personal data breaches, including tracking remedial actions.
- Monitoring and testing compliance across business units and projects.
- Contributing to the preparation of regular compliance and risk reports.
- Assisting with the design and delivery of data protection training (e.g. live sessions, videos, online modules).
- Using and maintaining privacy tools (e.g. Sightline, Prevalent) and supporting related data processes.
- Providing flexible support to the wider Global Data Protection team on key projects and initiatives.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- Work experience demonstrating a graduate level ability
- 2 + years operations experience working in data protection or information governance in any organisation
- Prior knowledge of DPA, GDPR, especially in relation to ROPAs, data subject rights requests and personal data breaches.
- Experience working in the television / media industry or with television / media industry clients would be preferred
Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Experience of implementing and monitoring business processes
- Experience of owning and delivering small projects
- Relevant, practical privacy experience, in particular of operational data protection or information management processes and compliance frameworks.
- Understanding of international privacy laws and regulations, and awareness of current privacy issues.
- Ability to review and assimilate large amounts of information and to use a high degree of attention to detail to use the information to create accountability documentation, assessments, and advice.
- Ability to work proactively and collaboratively with various key ITV teams, including other ITV compliance, legal and business affairs teams, commercial teams, production teams, HR teams, and Group Tech teams, among others.
- Ability to manage a high volume workload which requires prioritisation of work to meet deadlines.
