The team

Our ITV News teams deliver high quality, trustworthy and impartial journalism to millions of people on television and online. It’s a fast moving environment with a huge variety of roles on offer and plenty of challenges. We operate from 11 main news production centres across England, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Channel Islands. We also have a Political Unit based in the heart of Westminster and produce a range of current affairs & factual programming at ITV Wales, UTV and ITV Border.

The role

We are looking for a Production Coordinator to join our award-winning news team in Tyne Tees and Border in a permanent, part-time position. As our part time Production Coordinator, working alongside our full time Production Coordinator, you will provide administrative support to the Head of News, Operations Manager, Managing Editor and management team, helping to ensure the smooth running of our busy newsrooms, offices and news vehicles. Both Production Coordinators will have separate or specific tasks but will also work alongside each other as a team, sharing workload, responsibility and providing cover for each other’s roles.

Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will provide a site services function for our main buildings in Gateshead and Carlisle and our news bureaux in Billingham, Selkirk and Edinburgh. You will process local invoices and help coordinate routine building and health and safety inspections. In addition you will help manage any incoming and outgoing post and goods and be a point of contact for visitors to the Gateshead site.

The Production Coordinator is also at the heart of supporting our editorial and production specialist staff, booking travel, accommodation and facilities. There will also be the requirement to support or lead the organisation of staff events.

You will have proven administrative skills, including strong word processing skills, gained in a busy office environment. Most importantly, you will possess excellent organisational skills, be able to work accurately under pressure and to tight deadlines and have an interest in local news and current affairs. A confident communicator with the ability to build relationships, you will be able to juggle multiple tasks whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail. You will be able to demonstrate confidentiality, tact and diplomacy at all times, be self-motivated, flexible and adapt and prioritise at short notice.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to demonstrate the following skills:

Minimum role criteria:

  • Strong word processing skills with the ability to write correspondence as well as create forms, surveys & presentations.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and demonstrate the ability to multi-task and prioritise and delegate as appropriate.
  • A self starter demonstrating the ability to use initiative and judgement to deal with sometimes complex questions and issues as they occur.

Other things we're looking for (Key Criteria):

  • Can be trusted to be discreet with highly sensitive information.
  • Ability to get the best out of people and to work as part of a successful multi-skilled team.
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn new skills and adopt new ways of working.
  • Confident, calm & friendly manner maintaining a positive attitude, whilst working under pressure to tight deadlines

So, if you’re a confident communicator with proven administrative skill and a real desire to work for ITV, we want to hear from you.

Newsrooms are busy and pressurised environments, involving live news production, which often requires colleagues to make quick decisions under pressure. We also need people who are able to use their initiative and, particularly for editorial roles, know what information might be required and how to research it.

We need to test these abilities at the interview stage to understand how candidates will react when operating in a pressurised environment. This is a fundamental requirement of the role. We will always consider any request for reasonable adjustments as part of the interview process, for example sharing key themes when that is requested in connection with a neurodivergent condition, whilst still ensuring that we are able to test a candidate's ability to operate in the specific environment of a newsroom.

Closing date: 11th January 2026

Interviews: 19th - 21st January 2026

What is the magic of ITV?

It starts with a simple love of television. Watching it, creating it, talking about it. Whether it’s daytime or primetime, for downtime or anytime.

We’re inspired by our audiences. Who helps shape what we make. Standing shoulder to shoulder with them. Because what matters to them, matters to us.

Starting conversations. Winning hearts. Changing minds and sometimes even society itself. Big or small, what we make makes an impact.
