Publicity Manager
The Role
The team
The main purpose of this role is to devise creative publicity strategies and implement targeted campaigns for our programmes. We have two roles available. One will be working primarily on our Drama output and the other on our Reality, Entertainment and Comedy programming. You will develop and execute publicity strategies for transmissions across ITV1, ITV2, and ITVX, ensuring adaptation to evolving viewer behaviours and media consumption trends. These roles will focus on publicising ITV and ITVX’s high profile commissions from the early stages of production through to broadcast and will also involve promoting the wider ITV brand.
The role
- Manage strategies and campaigns to cover all press, broadcast, digital media and content creators to reach target audiences;
- A focus on ‘digital first’ campaigns with promotion within the digital space, creator marketing and social media outlets to increase reach and look for new opportunities to reach lighter viewers via these outlets;
- Work collaboratively with other areas of the wider marketing team, social teams and picture publicity as well as the commissioning and production teams to devise fully cohesive and innovative publicity campaigns;
- Identify opportunities for social media influencers and content creators both on set, in junkets and via experiential work and incorporate that work into campaigns.
- Experience of publicising high profile entertainment and reality productions would be preferable;.
- Manage talent in relation to publicity for relevant programming;
- Manage crises and reputation management of ITV and its programmes;
- Identify potential press issues and work with the team to devise appropriate action;
- Write press information, brochure copy and press releases to deadlines;
- Work collaboratively and as part of a wider team to sharing skills and best practices;
- Form excellent working relationships with journalists across full range of media, including digital as well as social influencers;
- Field and answer press inquiries via email and phone;
- Provide written press updates, status reports and evaluations for campaigns to the Head of the relevant genre and the production teams.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- Extensive experience working either in house or for an agency, preferably in television or the wider entertainment industry. Experience in promoting entertainment, reality, comedy and drama.
- Excellent relevant contacts across a range of media – print, digital, radio, television, social and social media influencers. Experience of publicising projects on social media and within the digital sphere with proven success in that space and interest in innovations within that area;
- Crisis management/reputation management skills;
- Previous experience of working with high profile actors/talent;
- To be able to demonstrable creative and strategic thinking;
- Ability to identify good news stories and crisis situations;

- Excellent personal and communication skills;
- Excellent copywriting ability;
- The ability to remain highly focused and flexible whilst working under pressure with the ability to manage multiple dramas simultaneously;
- Highly articulate and informed;
- Keen interest in and understanding of the media industry and in innovations in publicity;
- Actively engaged with social media
