The Role

QA Engineer

We’re looking for a QA Engineer to play a key role in ensuring the quality and performance of ITV’s next generation of business systems.

You’ll apply the principles, practices and standards of acceptance testing throughout the software development lifecycle, working closely with business stakeholders, developers, and product teams to deliver solutions that meet both technical and commercial objectives.

You’ll define acceptance criteria, create test scripts, lead acceptance testing cycles, and manage defect resolution processes. A significant part of the role will also involve hands-on QA writing and maintaining automated test suites using Java and TypeScript/JavaScript, performing manual, exploratory, and performance testing, and ensuring security and resilience are at the heart of everything we deliver.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented, proactive QA Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and wants to make a real impact on high-profile projects across ITV.

The team

ITV Technology and Global Partnerships are working together on a major programme of change, building new systems and capabilities for Rights, Content Sales & Licensing, Royalties, Customer Relationship Management, and Contract Lifecycle Management.

As part of this transformation, the QA function plays a pivotal role in ensuring we deliver secure, high-quality, and scalable systems across a mix of SaaS products, API integrations, and in-house applications. You’ll be part of a collaborative, cross-functional technology team committed to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with business teams and end users to document Acceptance Criteria.
  • Writing automated tests to assure our products remain correct over their lifetime
  • Performing manual & exploratory testing to verify system behaviour and uncover defects
  • Performing tests against service APIs, user interfaces, databases, and code units as appropriate
  • Working with the engineering team to ensure the quality of the solution as it is being built, including attending planning sessions, demo’s, code reviews, etc
  • Helping to identify and evaluate testing tools and techniques
  • Acting as gatekeeper as products go through the delivery pipeline, ensuring their continued quality as they are deployed
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders, business analysts, users, developers, and engineers to agree solutions
  • Sharing best practices and new technologies with the wider team to promote innovation, e.g. via show & tell sessions, POC/prototyping, etc
  • The ability to adapt to change as the team and ITV’s business grows and changes.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

  • At least 3+ years of previous experience in testing or QA engineering
  • Proven ability to write and maintain automated tests using Java and/or Javascript/Typescript
  • Hands-on experience with manual and exploratory testing to assure the quality of the implementation against the specified requirements, and uncover edge case issues
  • Strong experience in API level testing, ideally using tools such as Postman or REST Assured
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of working within a collaborative, cross-functional Agile team.
  • Detailed understanding of stress testing, volume testing, negate testing and security testing.
  • Experience using tools such as Playwright for automation

Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)

  • Knowledge of Gherkin Syntax and BDD approach considered advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Cypress, Selenium, SauceLabs or similar automated testing tools
  • Experience in non-functional and performance testing
  • Familiarity with Git Repository, Jira, Confluence.
  • REST Assured API Automation

What is the magic of ITV?

It starts with a simple love of television. Watching it, creating it, talking about it. Whether it’s daytime or primetime, for downtime or anytime.

We’re inspired by our audiences. Who helps shape what we make. Standing shoulder to shoulder with them. Because what matters to them, matters to us.

Starting conversations. Winning hearts. Changing minds and sometimes even society itself. Big or small, what we make makes an impact.
