The Role

The role

As a ITVx Video Tester, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of our video products across various platforms and devices. You will play a crucial role in identifying and reporting defects, ensuring a seamless user experience, and contributing to the overall success of our video content.

Main responsibilities

Execute test plans and test cases to evaluate video playback, streaming quality, audio synchronisation, resolution, and overall performance.
Accurately document and report bugs, glitches, and inconsistencies using bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
Testing video content across a wide range of devices (smart TVs, mobile devices, desktops, gaming consoles) and operating systems (iOS, Android, Windows, macOS).
Verify bug fixes and ensure that issues are resolved effectively.
Monitor video streaming performance, including buffering, latency, and load times.
Perform regression testing to ensure new features and bug fixes do not introduce new issues.
Work closely with engineers, product managers, and other team members to ensure timely resolution of issues and a high-quality product.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of test plans and test cases.
Awareness of the latest video technologies, codecs, and streaming protocols and DRM systems.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

Previous experience in video testing or quality assurance, preferably in a streaming or media environment.
Familiarity with a wide range of devices and operating systems used for video playback.
Experience using bug tracking and test management tools.
Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for identifying defects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in an agile environment.

Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)

Experience with video testing automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium).
Understanding of network protocols and troubleshooting network-related video issues.
Knowledge of accessibility standards related to video, such as closed captioning and audio descriptions.
Knowledge of how CDNs function and their impact on video delivery.
Able to put various devices in debug mode or able to extra logs from devices
Understanding of video codecs (e.g., H.264, H.265, VP9), streaming protocols (e.g., HLS, DASH), and video playback technologies.
Previous experience using various test case management & orchestration software
Used cloud based testing solutions.
